17.-20.09.2010: LSMS & ICSEE 2010 - Award for best foreign Contribution
During the internationalen conference "LSMS & ICSEE 20101" (International Conferences on Life System Modeling and Simulation & Intelligent Computing for Sustainable Energy and Environment) scientists from the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, Dipl.-Ing. Christian Wolf and Daniel Gaida, M.Sc., have received an award for the best paper. From a total of 260 contributions, the three best publications have been honored which have to been selected by an international team of researchers. In addition, the article is released in a special issue of "Communications in Computer and Information Science" from the prestigious Springer Verlag.
Theme of the conference was the modeling and simulation of systems and software for renewable energy and the environment. Wolf and Gaida are members of the 15-headed research group GECO►C at the Institute of Automation of the Campus Gummersbach. The presented results of the research are dealing with online measurement of process data in biogas plants, which were only measurable with a very great expense until now. With the newly developed method, it is possible to measure critical process parameters online and in real time. The development of the GECO►C working group was held in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Seán McLoone of the Irish elite Universitüt Nui Maynooth. During the last year the measurement system is already successfully in use on an industrial biogas plant.
