01.03.- 03.03.2011: Kooperation in Wastewater Technology - two Scientist of Gummersbach visiting Istanbul
In the period from 01.03.-03.03.2011 were Prof. Dr. Bongards and his employee, Ms. Gül Yildirim, visiting the Istanbul Technical University (ITU). Besides, purpose was a cooperation between the research group GECO►C, the ITU as well as the Istanbul "Chamber of Industry", an organization, which corresponds to the German Chamber of Commerce (IHK), in the field of simulation and automation of Wastewater Treatment Plants and sewer systems.
The interest in such a knowledge transfer is huge from Istanbul side, because they cleaned only 50 percent of the sewage biologically. Big Wastewater Treatment Plants and sewage systems are in planning or under construction, because for the next years a strong growth of the town is expected. Currently 15 Mil. people live in the metropolitan area Istanbul.
