14.-16.03.2012: 45th Essen conference on water and waste management

A special trademark of this three-day conference is the width of the topics. This year there were two main areas: firstly, it focused on the energy efficiency of wastewater treatment plants and water plants, i.e. a reduction in energy consumption without compromising the operability of equipment and machinery.

The second main focus was on energy policy, i.e. the problems that occur in relation to the choice of the optimal energy source, energy storage and energy distribution in the different regions of Germany. A subject area, with which the Regional 2010 project :metabolon has also dealt. In connection with this subject Mrs. Lichtinghagen-Wirth, executive Director of the BAV, has kept a presentation on the regional energy and material flows.
