14.11.2012: District of Oberberg receives European Energy Award 2012
The European Energy Award appreciates climate protection strategies, implemented projects, municipal funding programs or information campaigns and above all minimized energy consumption as well as the application of regenerative energy. The District of Oberberg aims for example - with the project :metabolon - the reorientation of the existing disposal center Leppe to a competence, learning and innovation place for material conversion (metabolism), resource efficiency and local environmental technologies.
The necessary restructuring and regional recultivation of the location was combined with future-oriented, economically viable building blocks. The Bergische energy competence center, on the site of the disposal center Leppe in Lindlar, is a central, consumer-oriented center for demonstration, exhibition and service for regenerative energy in the region Cologne-Bonn. With this center, a central and independent platform for information and advisory is created on which manufacturers, crafts and consumers can meet themselves.
