The aim of a biogas plant control system is to increase the production of biogas, without running into extreme conditions at the plant and thereby react to possible hazardous situations in good time.
In short: high capacity utilisation within a safe operational state.
The processes used in biogas plants do not run in a linear and time
dependent manner. Rather, they are dependent to a great extent on environmental influences such as temperature and substrate composition. Consequently, the use of traditional, linear approaches to control would be ineffective.
For this reason, our team uses a new control concept for biogas plants control which works using computational intelligence (CI) methods. Through the implementation of the technology that we developed ourselves in various biogas projects we now have great empirical values in this area.
