Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Kranert was the leader of the 3rd Science Congress "Waste and Resource Management" which took place at the University of Stuttgart in March 2013. Almost one hundred participants heard lectures of 22 speakers on the topics plastic utilization, biological processes, international waste and resource economy, recycling as well as thermal utilization and logistics. Just as in previous years, the conference was also accompanied by a poster exhibition. In this way, the young scientists also had the opportunity to present their current research to an interested audience.
In the course of the Congress, a jury of the Advisory Board selected the winners of the annual Science Prize for waste and resource management in the category "presentation" and "Posters". In the category "Posters" the science prize as well as a cash prize of 500 euros was awarded to Christian Wolf and Daniel Gaida from the Cologne University of Applied Sciences for their work entitled "Operation optimization of waste digestion plants using online measurement and data analysis".
